Washing Clothes in the Pila

Do you feel this happy when you are washing your clothes? She loved posing and had everyone else in the pila publica laughing. Notice the water in the middle. That is why they come here. All houses, even poor ones have pilas. But they don't all have water. The pila is made of concrete and has a built in wash board with ridges in the concrete--I have no idea how they make that mold. It has two sides so you can separate the wash water from the rinse water. In the homes, many people leave water in the pila to rinse things all the time--of course that creates a breeding place for mosquitos, since most pilas are outside.
